Now that LBNA is 5 years old and the webmasters are ushering us
into the 21st century, I thought it would be timely to hear how
LBNA started. I know the Smithsonian article that came out in
April, 1998 started it all, but I don't know the details of how and
who started this website and Talklist. Who were the original U.S.
letterboxers and where are they now (e.g. Der Mad Stamper)? Who pays
for this website and who originally set it up? I know the website
has some information, but not about the people and when they did it.
I would love to see a timeline of the history of LBNA if anyone out
there knows or was around at the beginning. It would be great to
have it on the website, not just in the Talklist. I would like to
tip my hat to the people who started it all for us and those that
continue to make it work!

This would be fun to know more specifics. I guess I have been curious b/c I
tried to find Der Mad Stamper when I was hunting for the Golden Spike
letterbox (the 1st in UT-another reason to txfer boxes to new site-historic
boxes would be lost). I had a hard time the first time and emailed him to
see if he knew if it was MIA. I found the box after another attempt, but
never heard from Der Mad Stamper. What has happened to him?

Your best way of gathering this history is to interview the people at
meets. I bet the May 17th meet would be good for this.
